Diatomaceous Earth

Diatomaceous Earth is a naturally occurring fossil deposit that is organically, bio-dynamically and permaculturally sound and is harmful only to insects and their larvae.
It can be used to combat the predation of plants and seeds by insects both in the garden and in storage.
Some of our seeds are routinely packed in Diatomaceous earth to ensure their protection.
As the ‘Earth’ is finely ground powder, we suggest washing the seed before germinating for ‘Sprouts’.
While it is not harmful to ingest, we prefer to err on the side of caution, for general use.
It can be sprinkled or ‘blown’ onto plants under attack but please use only when pollinators are not present.
