Kabocha, also known as Danhobak, Fak Thong, Golden Squash, Winter Pumpkin and Japanese Pumpkin has become our personal favourite after the first bite.
While not actually a pumpkin, but a squash, it delivers all of the best qualities of any pumpkin available, with prolific growth and multiple fruiting.
Best grown during the winter months it can accommodate those garden beds that sit idle during that time.
The taste is wonderful, intense and if simply sliced in half, baked in the oven, blitzed with a dollop of cream and served as soup, it is a complete meal.
