This Lemongrass (Cymbopogon flexuosus) is a well known, clumping grass with the unmistakable citrus aroma.
This herb is easy to grow and keep and so convenient to use.
When in flower this plant often exceeds 2 metres in height and does make an attractive screen.
Mainly used as a culinary herb, the leaves and stems of the lemongrass are beneficial to the stomach, and as an antiseptic.
The essential oil within the plant is useful for improving circulation and muscle tone.
Lemongrass can be dried, but we use it fresh if possible.
Left alone in the garden it will continue to reproduce itself indefinitely but it can be grown in pots for convenience.
